1948 Willys Jeepster

Florence and I have owned and enjoyed our 1948 Jeepster for over five years and even though we have other Neat Rods this one is a real eye catcher. We belong to the Early Times Car Club and attend a lot of events with them. Being a retired Machine Builder I do all the maintenance on our cars and this one is a real joy to work on.

The all steel two door body is fairly stock with Louvers added along with custom tail lights, side curtains and welded fender skirts. It has smooth lines with the front and rear bumpers off. The color is a Peach and White, that’s how we came up with it’s name, “Just Peachy” The interior has Mustang seats done in vinyl with a Chevy steering wheel and stock instruments with a stereo cassette player added to the custom console.

The Drive-train is a different story, it has a 1972 Chevy 400 cubic inch V-8 with a Holley carburetor sparked by an MSD ignition with dual exhaust with an electric fan sucking air through an aluminum radiator to keep it running cool. The alternator is a single wire unit and keeps the battery well charged. Behind that is a three speed automatic transmission with a column shifter. The rear-end is a GM 10 bolt unit sending the power to the aluminum wheels. The Chassis has a Mustang Power Rack & Pinion with coil springs up front and leaf springs in the back. The braking is done with disc in the front and drum in the back.
