DANS 55
Dan Keough's 1955 Chevy Pick Up
Hell on Wheels is the way Street Trucks
February 2000 feature story on Dan's 55 started out and it meant
every word of it! Sporting a Blown 468 cubic inch engine with
a Weiand 6-71 sucking the juice from dual Edelbrock 625 cfm carbs
and blowing it into that Big Block Chevy with LS-6 rods, a steel
crank, TRW pistons, General Kinetik cam, roller rockers, stainless
valves with a Milidon Pan to cover the lower movement! A Brass
Works water pump helps keep it cool and Two inch Jet Hot coated
Hooker Headers help to get that exhaust out and into the Stainless
Exhaust for a sweet rumble coming out of the rear exiting pipes.
A Fatman Fabrication's Mustang II cross member with Mustang spindles
holds the front together and has Dual Mustang II brake power booster
to put the squeeze on 11" disc brakes to stop this Hellion.
With all that Ford in the front for stopping and steering, he
wanted some Corvette in the back to send that horsepower to the
American Racing Torque Thrust II wheels. This is accomplished
with an "85" fully independent rear axle assembly holding
3:42 to 1 gears to polished axles. B & B Autoworks of Euclid
did the rear installation and boxed in the frame rails for more
strength in the frame area. Talk about one nice looking undercarriage
on a vehicle driven to Shows and Cruises every day!
The interior has a tilt wheel from a "79" Cutlass sporting
a LeCarra leather wrapped wheel while the rest of the interior
is covered up in yards of Gray Leather which was done by "Interiors
by Dave". Dan watches his engine performance through Dakota
Digital Gauges. The exterior is done in Ebony Black with some
Peach & Purple striping for a little touch of accent!
