An exceptionally clean 1968 Mercury Cougar. It has a "Slightly"
modified 302 V8 with A/T, P/S, P/B. The car has 78,000. miles which
could very well be nearly the actual mileage.
The car came from Georgia, and was purchased by the individual that
did the restoration and gave me the pictures. He stated, and the pictures
reveal that the car had no rust ,and no prior damage. With the exception
of normal "Parking-Lot-Rash" and a few small dents. To my
knowledge all of the sheet metal is original.
I was advised that the new carpet and seat covers are O.E.M. and professionally
installed. I can see that the underside of the car is just as clean
as the engine compartment and the body. Care was obviously taken to
keep the car as "Original" as possible. It looks like the
day it hit the showroom floor. The engine has had a Holley 4 bbl and
Manifold, and Hi Pro exhaust manifolds added. It also has an electronic
ignition, and a mild cam. The heads have been re-worked for performance,
and for un-leaded gasoline.
Over all the car runs like a Swiss watch, and is as tight as a drum.
It's a lot of fun to drive, and it sure gets a lot of attention when
it's being driven.
It's a real pleasure watching how excited Mary gets when it's time to
cruise in it. This is her first "Crusin Car", and she loves
it. She has already added her personal touches to it in the form of;
Betty Boop door lock buttons, Betty Boop floor mats, Betty Boop Mirror
hanging dice, and of course a "Betty Boop decal in the rear window"
I'm sure there's more Betty Boop stuff to come. I tell everyone she
has "BOOP-ER-IZED" the car. But she's having fun, and after
all, isn't that what crusin is all about??
Later, Larry
