Henry Korelec
Born - January 7, 1947 . Passed – July 3, 2010

1st. and foremost, Henry was a Family man who with his wife Connie ( Blondie ) had a son Brian and their daughter Faith! He was also a Veteran of the US Navy who served his Country before becoming a plumber and Great Car Guy. A few of his hobbies that occupied some of his time was refurbishing old style Gas Pumps, collecting vintage automotive signs from gas stations and dealers and the one hobby he really got into was Bass Fishing!

Beyond these hobbies was his true passion, Drag Racing! He was an avid Drag Racer during the 1970’s and 1980’s and during this time he owned a multitude of Race Cars and Dragsters. He was a member of Mark Pawuk Racing pit crew and wrenched on his NHRA Pro Stock Car! Henrys latest project was a Nostalgic Woody Gilmore front engine dragster that he completed in 2008 and made passes down his favorite drag-strip Thompson Drag Raceway during the 2009 season! Besides his front engine dragster a few of his cars are a 1935 Chevy 2 door sedan, a 1966 Nova Station-wagon, and a 1966 Chevy Nova SS.

Henry "Hank" A. Korelec Jr., age 63, a lifelong Mentor resident, died Saturday, July 3, 2010, at Hospice House in Cleveland.
He was born Jan. 7, 1947, in Cleveland.
Mr. Korelec was a retired plumber from Northern Ohio Plumbing, retiring in 2006.
He was a member of the Plumber Union Local 55 in Cleveland, and a graduate of Mentor High School Class of 1965. His passion in life was his love of drag racing and classic cars. He had an extensive collection of gas station memorabilia and was an avid restorer. His latest joy was his 1965, fully restored original front engine dragster. Absolute pride and joy in life was his granddaughter, Sophia Korelec. He will be watching over the safe arrival of his future grandson, Maxwell Henry Powalie. He was also a U.S. Navy veteran.
Survivors are his wife, Connie, who he always called, "Blondie" Korelec; son, Brian (Annie) Korelec of Mentor; daughter, Faith (Tony) Powalie of Painesville Township; granddaughter, Sophia Korelec; mother, Ruth Korelec of Mentor; four sisters, Linda (Roy) Roediger of Leroy, Renee (Ed) Dayok of Mentor, Michelle (Gary) Woidtke of Concord Township and Joanne (Dan) Kidd of Mentor; dearest friends, Dick and Barb Advey of Willoughby Hills.
He was preceded in death by his father, Henry A. Korelec Sr.; and grandson, Jackson Henry Powalie.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Brunner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, where visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
